Dealing with Depression

  I am not writing about clinical depression. .  This article is about occasional depression that often comes and visits for a short time then leaves. 

I often have such spells that when they occur  can create a small amount of discomfort emotionally.  It is for this reason that I have chosen the subject as we all have some form of depression now and then.  So, here is my answer.....

As a young mother I can remember depression arriving at my door like an  overhanging cloud.  It felt awful, and I can even remember talking to myself that here "it" is again.  It was not until years later when I was part  of a channeling team that met once a week did the subject of depression once again emerge. 

The answer was simple in that  the solution is always simple, but...the work or the solution is difficult.  Difficult because the remedy lies in retraining your mind to respond or to change.  Easy said but difficult to achieve.

First and foremost do not give this negative energy any power by feeding it was negative thoughts about your self.  This is harder than you think, but simple to work upon.  Recognize that the energy is there, but mentally change you thinking.  A simple thought is to tell yourself to stop thinking this thought and leave yourself alone, and this works.

I suggest a gratitude list.  Be grateful that you have a place to stay, or sleep.  Be grateful that you have a source of revenue or income, be grateful for your health.  This is simple, but very important.  Because focusing upon what you have rather that what is not pleasant helps rid yourself of depression. 

Always pick up the phone and communicate with others without talking about your own needs.  In other words,  get out of  directing conversation about yourself, and focus upon the friend that you have chosen to call.  This is when the magic begins to take effect.  By helping someone else, you get out of the depression, and if lifts and goes away.  Connecting with other humans is one of the best solutions ever.  By helping another soul rather than spilling your problems all over someone else allows a gift to be given to you from the Universe.  Remember?  when you give to someone and do not tell others what you are doing, you are sending out a positive.  Let the energy reward you, and watch depression leave.
