We all seem to hedge when telling the truth simply because we are afraid of making someone mad. Of course, I am talking about truth as we know it or truth that we practice. Being truthful in looking at what we witness is often very difficult for all of us. This includes me as well. However, the sooner all of us "bite the bullet" and confess being truthful, the pathway to spirituality begins to widen for us all.
In 12 step work in which I participate, we are often told that when someone mentions something to us that produces anger, it is often the truth. Human nature seems to want us to stay in the dark and deny those truths that we all do not wish to address. Again, putting our "big boy pants on" and looking at what is creating anger kicks us slowly into a new reality of removing denial. This is, for all of us a form of spiritual awakening. Because the simple truth is that we will continue to repeat out mistakes until we learn to clean our own spiritual "house". This simple change has opened my eyes into life and changed my whole outlook with not only others, but also myself. To no longer harbor resentments that indeed create a form of disease is a certain promise of good health both physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Working on the concept of boundaries such as addressing future problems up front with either a business partner or friend or lover prevents a world of remedies rather than heart breaks. This lesson for me, was an attempt at hurdling over future problems when discussing new business ventures in order to prevent possible problems. Many times, I would tell myself that Id discuss that when it occurred. But truthfully, I was by passing the discussion because I did not want to create discord that could lead to failure with this partnership. We all do this game, but spiritually we will learn to address those issues that may be possible problems up front and proceed with resolutions for both parties. For Example, dividing money among business associates can get nasty and vicious, but usually it need not happen. Once the "golden egg" has landed every one has a short term memory of how to divide the "pie". Do I know what the outcome of this looks like. Preventing future problems by truthful solutions early on prevents much hurt in the long run.
